MSL Laser Therapy

We take pride in staying at the forefront of dental and medical technology in order to provide our patients with the most advanced care available. In addition to comprehensive dental treatment, we offer our patients access to cutting-edge therapy for vertigo and Bell's palsy with our MLS laser.

What Is an MLS Laser?

A multiwave locked system (MLS) laser is a broad-spectrum laser designed for a wide array of medical applications such as pain management, vertigo treatment, and Bell's palsy treatment. The laser uses state-of-the-art technology to synchronize wavelengths through continuously pulsed emissions to deliver advanced laser treatment at specifically therapeutic wavelengths (808nm for antiinflammatory and antiedemic effects and 905nm for analgesic effects).

The MLS laser system is superior to other class IV lasers in its ability to simultaneously deliver dual wavelengths at highly specific doses. It provides accurate delivery of laser emissions while maintaining safety by minimizing the risk of thermal damage.

How Does Laser Therapy Work?

Laser therapy has been in use since the 1970s, using light waves to trigger and accelerate the body's natural healing processes. At specific wavelengths, the energy (photons) contained in laser light can penetrate soft tissues, interact with molecules, and produce various biological photochemical, photothermal, and photomechanical effects at the cellular level.

MLS Laser Therapy Treatments

While the MLS laser has several treatment applications thanks to its ability to reduce inflammation, swelling, and pain, we specialize in offering patients treatments specifically targeted at addressing vertigo and Bell's palsy.

Vertigo Treatment

Issues with the body's vestibular system (a complex sensory system responsible for regulating balance and spatial orientation) can trigger symptoms of vertigo. When experiencing vertigo, it can be difficult for patients to walk normally and navigate their environments due to feelings of dizziness and disorientation. MLS laser therapy applied to the head, cervical spine, and neck (the primary locations of the vestibular system) helps to reduce inflammation and take pressure off of the neuromusculoskeletal system to relax and balance the body's vestibular centers. This relaxation and reduced inflammation promotes proper vestibular system function, helping to improve balance and orientation while reducing vertigo symptoms.

Bell's Palsy Treatment

The use of MLS laser therapy treatments to address symptoms of Bell's palsy has shown promising results. The dysfunction of the facial nerve characterizes Bell's palsy, making it difficult for patients to control the muscles involved in facial expressions. It can result in facial weakness, the inability to close the eyes, the drooping of one corner of the mouth, and other asymmetries of the face. Treatment often involves strategies for reducing facial inflammation and stimulating the nerve.

MLS laser applications help to reduce localized inflammation while also stimulating healing processes within the facial tissues that can help restore nerve function.

How Much Does MLS Laser Treatment Cost?

The total treatment cost for MLS laser therapy can vary based on each patient, their individual needs, and potential insurance coverage. In our office MLS laser therapy sessions for vertigo range from about $125 to $750, while MLS laser therapy sessions for Bell's palsy range from $750 to $1,750. Our office can provide you with an estimated cost of care based on your personalized treatment plan and insurance coverage.
